We took control of the property as it was un-mortgageable. It had significant structural issues.
Due to my experience as a Structural Engineer, I could ascertain what was required and I had the confidence to invest in the property. Ground Investigation was carried out and the optimum solution was to pile the house from the inside as the central spine of the house had sunk to the clay sub-base. I engaged ‘mini’ piles to be installed inside the property. Steel reinforced concrete beams and RC ’needle’ beams were then cast into and on top of these piles to transfer the loadings from the house to stop it moving any further.
Following this we ‘jacked’ up the central all of house, lifting it 16cm. This was as close to the original location as we could get without causing damage to the building.
We gained the relevant certification to allow the property to be suitable for mortgage purposes and sold it to become an amazing family home.
